Companions for a Purpose

Service Dogs of Southern Nevada (SDSN) is a nonprofit organization proudly dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders by either training their current dog or assisting in the selection of a suitable dog to be trained as an assistance animal.

Our mission is to empower individuals living with ADA-recognized disabilities—including PTSD, mobility challenges, and other physical or psychological conditions—by helping them form strong, lasting partnerships with fully trained assistance dogs.

At SDSN, we provide personalized, hands-on instruction for both the handler and the dog, ensuring they develop together as a confident, capable team. All training is conducted in accordance with the highest standards set by the International Association of Assistance Dog Partners (IAADP) and Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

Upon completion of the program, each assistence dog is:
   • Certified and task-trained to perform a minimum of three specific tasks that directly mitigate their handler’s disability.
   • Required to pass a Public Access Test, confirming their ability to remain calm, focused, and well-behaved in public environments.

At SDSN, we don’t just train assistance dogs—we build life-changing partnerships that restore independence, dignity, and quality of life.
